DFW Fishing Tours - Lake Lavon

Finding the right guide...please take a moment to read this page

It doesn't take more than a quick google search and you can find a list of DFW fishing guides. Like most service based offerings, some guides are great and some, well...not so much.

That's why I encourage you to have a conversation with me before your trip, lets figure out what YOU are trying to accomplish.  I can vary from very instructional and formal to laid back fun fishing.  Let's figure out what you want to get out of your trip before we leave the ramp.

License and Registration, please.

In the Great State of Texas, freshwater guides have to be licensed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and are required to meet all legal safety requirements for the boat.  Please make sure you have a current fishing license as well and there are no surprises in the event we are visited by a Texas Game Warden.

Customer Dock Talk

"I used Terry as a guide on a number of occasions and he always managed to put us on fish.  Besides that, his knowledge and coaching allowed me to become a better angler"

Louis W.

Texas Law Enforcement Officer

Seadrift, TX

"Coming up with creative ways to entertain clients is always something I am looking for, offering my customers a great fishing experience is a unique way to say "Thanks" for years of business.  Terry is awesome!

Mark R.

Prominent Texas Attorney

Austin, TX

"You do the math, new bass boat vs hire Terry for a few trips each month.  I think you will find like we did, money well spent and Terry is a heck of a guide.  My son and I won't forget the times we spent with TW"

Jeff W.

Austin, TX

FAQs - if this is your first Rodeo:

Where do we meet?

If fishing Lake Lavon we meet at the Collin Park boat ramp located closest to the Marina and restaurant.

Collin Park is located at:

2200 St Paul Rd, Wylie, TX 75098

Coming from Plano, follow Parker road East, continuing East through the light at Country Club in Wylie, look for the yellow Collin Park Marina sign where you veer slightly to the left past The Inspiration sub-division.

Do you guarantee I will catch fish?

No. No bass guide does that I am aware of.  There are just too many factors in bass fishing that influence the outcome of any trip.  However, I show up early with a clean boat, filled with gas, gear and tackle ready to work for you and give you the best chance of a successful trip.  I am on the water 3-5 days a week and use everything at our disposal to chase down a lunker!

What do I bring?

The only thing you have to bring is your fishing license.  However, to make your trip enjoyable here are a few tips:

  • Dress appropriate for the weather, including rain gear if the forecast calls for it
  • Do wear sunscreen and I recommend the lightweight, fast drying fishing shirts to help keep you cool
  • I can provide all the tackle, but feel free to bring yours
  • If you do bring a cooler, make sure it isn't bigger then a personal sized unit.  NO chest coolers allowed.  There will be an onboard cooler with ice and bottled water for your use
  • Beer is fine, I don't drink on my guide trips but you are welcome too.

How many people can go on a guided bass fishing trip?

Your ideal trip will have yourself and another angler, making a total of 3 in the boat.  I can accommodate a 4th person but realize, just like in all bass boats, there are only 3 seats.  There is room for a 4th person to sit with a cushion, but better suited for a kid. If you have a larger group I can work with other guides and bring additional boats so that everybody enjoys a comfortable trip

Do you allow customers to keep their catch?

Yes. If you want to keep your legal catch you are more than welcome to.

Do you accept credit cards?

I accept all forms of payment, just tell me what is most convenient for you and we can work it out.  If you do plan to pay by credit card, you will be responsible for the small fee they charge me.

Do you fish?

Actually, I try not to.  I need to be able to confirm a pattern and make sure fish are active but once I do, I hand the boat over to you.  I'll often sit down and control the boat remotely via the Minn Kota Ultrex.  Tough job, I know.  However, I want your bait to be the first bait those fish see, not mine.

Want Kids?

Of course, as a father of a 7 year old I strongly believe in getting kids in the outdoors.  If you want a kid focused trip we can do that to, again communication is the key

Can we custom tailor a trip?

We are here to serve, and can accommodate anything from large corporate trips with multiple boats to individualized instructional trips.  You let us know, and we make it happen, Captain.

My son/daughter is involved in HS Bass fishing...

Let me know how I can help.  If being a boat captain for a day is needed for a reduced rate or putting together clinics or presentations to the team to help make them a better angler, I can help.  I truly have a passion for helping the young generation stay in the outdoors.
